Six teenagers were arrested Saturday evening after a fight involving nearly 100 juveniles at the Christiana Fashion Center in Newark, Delaware. Delaware State Police said officers from several agencies responded and tried to disperse the crowd, but some refused to leave and additional fights broke out in the parking lot.
Troopers were called to the shopping center around 6:30 p.m. Saturday after multiple reports of juveniles fighting. Officers worked to break up the crowd, but a portion of those gathered stayed and more fights started.
A 15-year-old Wilmington boy was charged with disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, and third-degree trespassing. State police said he ran from troopers trying to arrest him and was taken into custody after a Taser was used. He was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 11 and released on an unsecured bond of $1,101.
Charges filed against the other five juveniles
Three other 15-year-old boys from Wilmington, a 14-year-old Wilmington boy, and a 13-year-old boy from Elkton, Maryland, were each charged with disorderly conduct and third-degree trespassing. State police said all five were released on criminal summonses.
No injuries were reported in the state police account. The agency did not say what sparked the gathering or the fights in the parking lot.
